Nichols College

Ten Nichols College students completed internships during winter break with various companies. Students can obtain internships starting sophomore year. Internships prepare students for professional work environments and give them an advantage in the job market following graduation.

37 Nichols College students were inducted into Zeta Alpha Phi for the 2013 year. Zeta Alpha Phi is the Nichols College honors society which recognizes scholastic achievement and aims to stimulate student interest in academics and improve the academic stature of the institution.

20 Nichols College students were inducted into Delta Mu Delta in April 2013. Delta Mu Delta is an international honor society for business administration studies. Its purpose is to recognize and reward scholastic attainment in these disciplines.

Sixteen Nichols students have been elected class officers for the 2013-14 academic year.

Nichols College's Office of the Registrar has announced the Dean's List for the fall semester of 2013. The Dean's List gives recognition to those students who achieve high grades during a single semester. In order to be included in the Dean's List, a student must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.2 for at least 12 credit-hours and receive no grade below a C+ during the semester. A student who earns a grade point average of 3.6 or higher is awarded Dean's High Honors.

Almost two dozen Nichols College Students have received internships in their fields of study for the Fall 2013 semester. Internships allow students to apply their classroom experiences and knowledge to excel in a real world business or organizational environment.

Nine Nichols College students have been recognized for their athletic achievements in the Fall 2013 season. Awards are given to athletes in their conferences who demonstrate outstanding ability on the playing field.

Nine Nichols College students have been selected to lead the student body as Executive Advisory Board Members. EAB members are representatives of the student body who implement changes to improve the quality of life on campus. EAB is largely comprised of Student Government Association members.

Fifteen Nichols College students were named Captains of their respective sports for the Fall, 2013 season. Together, these students have guided their teams to success on and off the playing fields by acting as leaders and role models for teammates.

Fifteen Nichols College Students were recognized as Orientation Leaders during the Summer, 2013 0rientation sessions for the incoming class of 2017. These students introduced new freshman students to Nichols College and the community by leading them through team activities and helping them to assimilate to the college lifestyle.

Twenty-nine Nichols College students have been chosen as Student Ambassadors for the 2013-2014 academic year, with a mixture of returning students and freshmen. Student Ambassadors are leaders who help the admissions staff and give tours to perspective students and families, showcasing Nichols College and its community.

Each week, a male and female athlete are recognized for outstanding achievement on the playing field. So far through the fall season, 14 student athletes have shared the Bison Spotlight.

This semester, 23 Nichols College students have taken on extra roles in their classrooms as Teaching Assistants. They will aid the professor in the organization and scheduling of lessons, as well as help students in and outside of the classroom.

A three-year grant from the Davis Educational Foundation based in Yarmouth, Maine is helping to fund a Nichols initiative to develop student leadership skills in a range of part-time jobs around campus.

Nichols College has conferred 267 Bachelor's, 110 Master's, and 6 Associate Bachelor's degrees on the members of the Class of 2013. The new graduates were recognized in front of friends, family, and faculty during the College's annual Commencement ceremony on May 11th.

At its Commencement on May 11th and in a ceremony held earlier in the spring, Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts presented awards for individual achievement. These awards range from accomplishments in students' major areas of study to recognition for significant contributions made to the college community.
